How to add transitions between sections

Pick a transition between two sections—such as fade or motion—for smoother scene changes.

Written by Emmanuel Rances

When to use

Use this when you want to:

  • Soften cuts between sections

  • Add fade or motion between scenes

  • Improve pacing and visual flow

  • Give the edit a more polished feel

Steps

  1. Open your project.

  2. In the timeline, find the small transition control between two sections.

    • It appears gray when no transition is set.

  3. Click the transition control.

  4. Choose a style (for example Fade, Rise, or Pan).

  5. When a transition is active, the control turns purple.

The transition applies between those two sections.
