How to edit audio length

Trim audio so it plays exactly where you need it: shorten or extend clips in the timeline, set precise start and end times, or trim from a transcribed speech section.

Ways to trim audio

  1. In the timeline

    • Select your audio track.

    • Drag the clip edges to shorten or lengthen it.

    • Use this when you want a quick length change.

  2. In the right sidebar

    • Select your audio track, then use the Playback settings in the right sidebar.

    • Adjust the available timing controls there to fine-tune where the audio starts and ends.

    • You can also adjust volume and apply effects here.

  3. For transcribed speech

    • Select the audio file in your section (for example, .wav or .mp3).

    • Use the start and end time fields in the audio editor to trim the file.

    • Useful for voiceovers and recorded narration.

Best uses

  • Removing silence or unwanted parts of a recording.

  • Aligning narration with visuals.

  • Shortening music or sound effects to fit a section.

  • Creating clean intro and outro clips.
