Credits and usage overview

How credits work, how to check your balance and activity, and how to get more credits.

Written by Anton Koenig

Credits are the currency that powers AI features in VideoGen. Every plan includes a monthly credit allowance, and you can buy more credits or set up automatic top-ups whenever you need them. This article explains how credits work, where to check your balance, and how your team shares credits.

What are credits?

Credits are used whenever you use an AI-powered feature in VideoGen — things like generating images, creating AI video clips, exporting videos, generating voiceover, and more. Each feature costs a specific number of credits per use.

Your credit balance is made up of two parts:

  • Included credits — the monthly allowance that comes with your plan. These refill automatically at the start of each billing cycle.

  • Additional credits — credits from one-time purchases or automatic top-ups. These are added on top of your plan allowance and do not expire at the end of a billing cycle.

Your included credits are used first. Once they run out, your additional credits are used.

Checking your balance and activity

Open the Usage tab in your dashboard to see your current credit balance. The balance card shows your total credits along with a breakdown of included and additional credits. If you have a next refill date, it appears below the breakdown.

Below the balance, the Credit activity section shows a log of every credit event — feature usage, purchases, top-ups, and included usage refills. You can filter activity by time range (1 day, 7 days, or 30 days) and page through the results. Each entry shows the date, event type, the team member who used it, and the credit amount.

Rate card

The rate card lists how many credits each AI feature costs. It is organized by category — video export, AI video generation, AI image generation, AI audio, AI effects, and storage. You can find the rate card by clicking See rate card at the bottom of the Usage tab.

Costs are shown per use, per second, per character, or per GB/day depending on the feature. For example, video exports are priced per second of output, while image generation is priced per image.

Buying additional credits

If you run out of credits or want to stock up, team admins can buy more from the Usage tab. Click Buy credits to open the purchase screen, then choose from one of the available credit packs. Payment is processed through Stripe and the credits are added to your team balance immediately.

Available credit packs are 2,000 (Mini), 5,000 (Standard), 10,000 (Large), and 25,000 (Bulk). If you are not a team admin, you will see a message to contact your admin.

Automatic top-ups

Automatic top-ups add credits to your balance whenever it drops below a threshold, so your team can keep working without interruption. Some features — including AI video generation, high-quality AI images, video background removal, website scan, and flexible storage — require top-ups to be enabled.

To set up top-ups, click Configure top-ups (or Enable top-ups if shown in the banner at the top of the Usage tab). Choose how many credits to add each time. You can change the amount or turn off top-ups at any time. There is nothing charged until a top-up is triggered.

Only team admins can enable or change top-up settings. Other team members will be asked to contact their admin.

How credits are shared across a team

Credits belong to your team, not to individual users. Every team member draws from the same credit balance — both included and additional credits. The credit activity log shows which team member used credits for each event, so admins can see how usage is distributed.

AI image quality tiers

When generating AI images, you can choose between three quality tiers that affect both the result and the credit cost:

  • Low — a budget-friendly option that uses fewer credits per image.

  • Standard — recommended for most users, with a good balance of quality and cost.

  • High — the highest quality option, designed for professional or client-facing work. High quality requires a Pro plan and top-ups to be enabled.

You can switch between tiers in the image generation prompt. The exact credit cost for each tier is listed on the rate card.
