How to add text overlays to a video

Text overlays let you add titles, subtitles, and captions directly into your video. They’re fully customizable so you can adjust the look, style, and placement to match your project.

Steps to add and edit text

  1. Open the Text tab

On the left toolbar, select Text.

  2. Choose a text type

Pick a style (for example title, subtitle, or body). It appears on the canvas.

  3. Edit on the canvas

Drag to position text or resize it directly in the editor.

  4. Style in the right panel

Adjust font, size, color, alignment, position, and animation. You can also change opacity, corner radius, and entry or exit animations. See our other articles for detail on each option.

Best uses

  • Titles and headlines for openings or section breaks.

  • Subtitles and lower-thirds for context or speaker names.

  • Callouts that highlight key points in tutorials, explainers, or marketing videos.
