Left sidebar overview

Learn how the left sidebar works.

The left sidebar is where you switch between the main editing tools in the VideoGen editor.

What the left sidebar is

The left sidebar is the editor's main tools area. It includes a tab bar and a larger content panel that updates based on the tool you select.

Available tools include Script, Create, AI, Text, Captions, Music, Record, Actions, and Slides.

How it works

When you select a tool, the content area opens the controls for that part of your workflow.

  • Script helps you work with your script and sections.

  • Create and AI open media creation tools.

  • Text, Captions, and Music open editing tools for those parts of your project.

  • Record opens recording tools.

  • Actions and Slides help you manage structure and section-level editing.

When to use it

Use the left sidebar when you want to switch editing modes, add content, or move to a different part of the editing workflow.

It is the main place to move between writing, creating, recording, and organizing your video.

On smaller screens

On smaller screens, the editor switches between Tools and Preview views instead of showing the full desktop layout at once.

The left sidebar remains the main entry point for editing tools in the Tools view. For more on inserting and managing media, see Asset tools overview.
