Written by Anton Koenig

Once you learn the basics of VideoGen, creating videos becomes fast, efficient, and intuitive. With VideoGen, you have AI helping at every step of the video production process.

This tutorial walks you through the steps to create your first video using the Script to video workflow. Before you begin, log in to https://app.videogen.io.

Step 1: Click New Video

From the home screen, click the New video button in the sidebar to start a new project. You'll see all available workflows.

Step 2: Choose Script to Video

Select the Script to video workflow. This opens the Idea screen, where you describe your video and choose your settings before generating a script.

Tip: Script to video is the most popular workflow for beginners. If you already have a voiceover, try Voiceover to video instead.

Step 3: Describe your video idea

On the Idea screen, enter a description of your video topic or goal. Be specific about what you want the video to cover.

Tip: The more detail you provide, the better the script. Instead of "marketing tips," try "5 social media marketing tips for small businesses in 2024."

Step 4: Choose your settings

Before generating, choose the settings you want for this video. Depending on your project, this can include visual style, AI voiceover, language, duration, aspect ratio, preset, and visual direction.

Set these on the Idea screen so the generated script matches the style and length you want.

Step 5: Generate the script

Click Generate script to have AI create a draft based on your idea and settings.

Step 6: Review and generate video

Review the generated script. You can edit sections as needed. When ready, click Generate video to create your video with AI-selected visuals and voiceover.

Tip: Don't worry about making the script perfect. You can always keep editing the video afterward.

Step 7: Edit in the Video Editor

After generation, you'll enter the editor. Here you can fine-tune visuals, timing, captions, music, and project-level actions.

Tip: Use the AI Playground to generate custom images if you can't find the right stock footage.

Step 8: Share your video

When you're done editing, click Share in the top-right corner to export or share your video.

Tip: Export at 1080p for best quality on social media. You can also share a direct link if you don't need to download the file.
