How to create a video with VideoGen

Once you learn the basics of VideoGen, creating videos becomes fast, efficient, and intuitive! With VideoGen, you have a team of AI agents helping you at every step of the video production process.

This tutorial will walk you through the 4 steps that will turn your idea into a publishable video:

Before you begin, log in to https://app.videogen.io and click “Create a video.”

In the overview, describe your video’s goal, audience, tone, and any other context to guide the AI agents.

We recommend you configure these options before generating the outline:

You may also configure additional settings near the bottom of the overview screen, like the aspect ratio, duration, deep research mode (the AI agents will do extensive research before writing the outline), and language.

Once you've finished your video overview, click the red "Generate outline" button in the bottom right. The AI agents will create an outline in about 1 minute.

If you'd prefer to write an outline from scratch, click "Skip to outline" in the bottom left.

Videos in VideoGen are broken up into sections. This keeps your video structured and makes it easier to go from an outline to a video.

In the Voiceover column, review the script and edit as needed. The AI will narrate the script word-for-word.

In the Visuals column, you can change the visual layout or add featured media for each section.

Click the three-dot menu in the top right of each section to access more actions, like inserting a new section or deleting a section.

If you'd like to go back to the overview, just click "Overview" in the top left of your screen. When you click "Generate outline" again, you'll get an entirely new outline.

Once you're satisfied with the outline, click the red "Generate video" button in the bottom right. The AI agents will build your video in about 1 minute, closely following the structure of your outline.

After generation, you’ll enter the Editor view. In the editor, you will have precise control over every detail in your video. You can drag and drop media, add animations, adjust the size and position of each asset, and so much more!

Use the Timeline or the Canvas to click on an asset that you want to change. The selected asset will have a blue outline.

Then, use the Edit asset panel on the right to replace, trim, add animations/effects, and more.

Edit the voiceover from the Script section on the left.

There's so much more you can do in the Editor, and this tutorial is just a quick guide to help you get started! We recommend trying the many different features.

Once editing is done, export or share it easily. Click Share in the top-right corner and choose from a variety of share options, like sharing a copy of your project via email, creating a shareable view link, or downloading as an MP4.
